Hope you are doing and feeling better. My daughter has major ear infection problems...going to get tubes put in them. Lots of pain killers, rest, and as little stress as possible. That is really important.

Hey everyone..Just wanted to give you an update..starting to sing again..only singing all out hurts my nose..so i am about ready to get back into song writing and singing.

Hey all!
sorry forgot to post an update on the 28th I had for my deviated septum. to stop migraines and . need a couple weeks to recover. be back on in another week maybe sooner but need time to rest my nose.

Just thought I would do a quick update. I have three more days of antibiotics. I am feeling a little better but my voice is not quite singing better yet. My doctor put me on mouth and throat numbing wash. Because my throat was so red. So hopefully I will be great by next week.

I did some cutting and pasting and added another guitar part so that it doubles the length of the original but progresses a bit at the same time. I have uploaded the file as a WAV so that you can work with it. Keep in mind this file is 16MB so you will need to download it in order to hear it..

File Description:This is yes, a little tad of ANOTHER song I've been working on. I just REALLY need a womans voice. It reminds me a bit of (okay..hold on...) Kelly Clarkson's "My December" and her "Sober" song...the only thing I have actually liked from her..lol. I know....I am rushing one idea after another....but I love creating music. Check it out..it is only like 40 seconds of the opener. Jim.

If you want me to extend that first piece by a minute or so it can be done. Not a problem. I will try and get it done today. (Thursday) I will send you info on a great software recording program that has full use even in it's "try till you buy" mode.

In Traverso,
from the Edit menu select import audio

This will let you import .wav, .flac, .ogg, .mp3, .wv, and .w64 files.

The wav files are huge and are a general pain for collaboration. Once we have a final arrangement we can upload the wav files to build the final mix.

Traverso does not let you export to mp3 but you can use something like WinLAME to do the conversion for you. I usually mix down to wav first then convert to mp3 using another tool.

The free stuff is mostly just ok. You can do some basic stuff but they all have their limitations. For around $40 you can get Cakewalk Music Creator. This is very easy to use and if you every decide to shell out the big bucks and go to Sonar, the project file format is compatible.

I currently use Sonar 7 Producer edition as my primary DAW. It works really well.

Jim and John I really like your music together I was wondering if you two could extend that piece for a minute I keep trying to sing a piece so everyone can get the idea but I can only fit in three and a half lines in. I would like even for a sample to sing the entire first verse. Also can one of you post the song in a wav file. Mix craft my old studio system can upload mp3s so I played with the music and singing with it but due to being an old system cant save using it and the new systems that john recommended will not upload mp3 I download Krystal and Traverso.

Hey guys...

I've started my own little song too (just out of having too much time on my hands..lol..). Please, if you guys wanna take a shot at it (I doubt no one else will..lol) it is a "modern rock" alternative kinda sound. My guitar playing is pretty basic and sporadic...pedestrian...and I absolutely cannot sing!..lol. You should see it above in the open-auditions thingy. I really like working with you guys because, most other musicians on this and other boards seem very egotistical, or they just want to play completely 'solo' million-mile-a-minute music.(Nothing against it, I just am not into that style of music.) The style of the song I started above sounds like a cross between Smashing Pumpkins and Our Lady Peace. Please don't fuss over this..no matter WHAT you think your music piece sounds like, just (as the saying goes..) DO it! :)

Hey John,

your new upload sounds cool I do like the bubble sounding effects, Its kind of relaxing. Last day of work tonight midnight to 8am then have the rest of Sunday and all Monday (that is my weekend) at the very LATEST I will post vocals on Monday (A definite thing!). Can anyone suggest good software online to record? I have a trail version the i can redownload but just wanted to see what any of you thought?

I am using Native Insruments Guitar Rig. I record clean and add the amps and effects afterwards. When we get the mixing phase we can have fun and add all kinds of stuff.

Hi John:

Really cool...that is very good! You are right, it has that 'bubbles' underwater sound. Just curious...could you possibly say add a stereo 'spread' to that, with a bit of delay? Do you think that would sound cool too? Your guitar and the vocals are going to be the main instruments, so don't be shy..lol. Maybe even something acoustic? Just ideas....I think we can make this one of the best sounding songs on this board, really!

I am reworking that guitar part to work with your piano parts. I am taking the less is more approach making sure I leave enough space for the vocals. I will try and have something up before the end of the weekend.
