I like your style, don't mis-interpret my comment, it was a refreshing exercise, I thought the intro worked out nice, but I don't think the rest of the tune was as 'hard rock' as John would have liked, but your nuances kept dragging me back, lol

Kip and John:

My style of writing and such is, by nature, very *weird*, mainly because I've only written music for a few very small films and video games. So, I write in really twisted ways sometimes, but I really love epic cinema-like pieces. Now, I also love regular "pop/rock" songs too, and I try to incorporate that into my music. But I understand why it is hard to collaborate with me, especially when I've already written most of the music. I have written songs with key changes in transitional parts, lots of weird timing, and I love creating texture and atmosphere. I love the unconventional...lol.

File Description:Kip, this is for you. I salvaged this thanks to a miracle, almost...lol....like I told you, I had thought I lost this permanently..thank God...lol. If you could maybe try and follow a little bit like the original bassline, I mean, you don't have to copy it, but I wrote it with a bit of a funky Led Zep influence (the second part) in mind. I don't mean to sound like a dictator..lol. Just do what you feel is best and that is all that matters. Most importantly, have fun. Maybe listen to John's mix with his guitar to get an idea of where to go with the song. He plays off of my bass line in the "verses" which are very, very simply, but ohhh so groovin! Thanks for your contribution. I can't wait to hear where this tune is going. I have written some stuff for a few films/documentaries, so my song writing approach is really kinda weird. Kip and John,

I am sorry for not being online for a few days. I mentioned I had a computer "failure" in my last post, and I lost a LOT of good stuff. Esp. ideas and such for songs I wanted to use on here. So, I lost the sep. tracks for this current tune we are working on. I luckily do have my computer DAW, related programs, and samples all backed up on DVD, and I can always try to recreate some pieces. I will try over the next few days to see if I can redo as close as possible the original, and leave out the bass so Kip can put something down. If not, I am *always* game to even taking snippets and making something completely new. :) I've got some really, ummm, odd musical ideas I may post up and you guys can take a shot at making something out of it too.

I've been offline mainly because of having to take some continuing education stuff for work..so I am putting in the 14 hour days. But I love working on music, so please don't hesitate to just jump right in whenever! I will post more asap...and it will be very soon, like, today, I hope..;)

Hey Guys...

John and Kip....great takes! Kip I promise I will try to find you a clean bass-less track. I had a computer "meltdown" a few days ago, and I lost a lot of stuff. (I have almost 4 Terabytes in external storage!..lol) So, I will make do. John....unbelievable man....I love how that bass line and your guitar line sync in the "verses" to this tune. I will get back to each of you guys asap!

File Description:Added a few new guitar parts and a lead. Hope you don't mind but I came up with completely new guitar parts. Sounds less like Rush more like Dream Theater. My lead is probably not up to John Petrucci's standards though. That dude still make me drop my jaw.

I think it still needs some refinement but overall the concept is pretty good. .

Hi John,

You nailed that really good! Fits perfectly. I know, it kinda sucks having to compete with a synth part, but having spent my teens wasted in the 80's.(lol) I just love the dynamic of synth and guitar. Do you have any fave bands or guitarists? And, you are from Texas, right? One of my fave guitarists and artists is from there...a fellow by the name of Eric Johnson. I hope I am not too 'dictator' like...just tell me if I am, and I will shut up, okay?..hahaahh. I was also thinking, I want to make this your and my project...if anyone wants to add vocals or heck, saxphone (lol) that is fine. But this is our "band" project...we should come up with a name.

File Description:I focused on the keyboard riff. I think I need to work on it a bit more. I know I can get it funkier and I think that will be the key to making it sound cool. This to me is a bit robotic. Let me know what you think..
