Each Other's Mine

Tempo is 147  on the last EOM mix

This is the basic bare-bone take on this...I've only got one verse and chorus.  Its about someone who thought love would last forever. well it didn't and he/she is talkin' bout it.. I am stumped on further verses..  Maybe situations , or visual things that happened..??

Its got that thing/chorus at the end of this take that could be arm waving...so I'm thinking it could be for a Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams, Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, etc...

I'm thinking at the end the chorus part will repeat again then one more verse the many chorus parts to fade out...also the end(hummijng)(or middle part) would be perfect for piecering Guitar high notes, vibrito Lead... really stretching it.taking it higher..

Also , may slow it down a tad..played with a drum loop, but took it out the mix as it clashed..sorry don't know the speed...  Anyway this is just to create interest..if there is any I'll set it more in stone or await your ideas...

Thanks Henkjan, These ideas will be a great help. I'm familiar with using electronic guitar tuner, I used to use that idea when playing at a venue I'd played before. Helped with room acoustics. I'll try tuning to those notes and let you know how it goes ........Thanks again,    Johnno.

This songs is very balanced and melodical. I liked it very much. Good well thought song! Its heavier than my bossa nova love songs but it is not heavy or hard rock.

If you want to break your bones and make noise and shake your neighbours you can listen to the heavy metal jam project. It is just kicking, having fun and .. perhaps you get inspiration in all the drum fills and drum patterns used there. When played softer and slower they feel different and perhaps can be used for ballads.

My 1987 Premier XPK drum kit i tuned like this
8=e, 10=c, 12=a, 13=f, 16=c I used pin stripes. It is like a chord now face = Fmaj7
When you have a small kit and use this the 12" is at it max and the 13 is also high
12=c, 13=g, 16 =c  12-13=quart, 13-16=quint 12=16 is octave
If you tune like this 12 and 13 are same tightnes but there is only very small difference between 12 and 13
12=g, 13=f, 16=c 12-16 is quint, 13-16 is quart

Having 16 on c is very low, if you like a fast kit where you can make rolls on the toms you can try 16 on d or even 16 on e and ... than all other toms equal higher

Good Luck with your knee. Hope you can drum again soon.
I tune my toms 10=c, 12=gis, 14=e, 16=c, 18=gis bottom and top head.
I can do that using an electronic tuning device with built in mic or using my ears and a keyboard.
Difficulty is the enormous amount of extra over tones that are created by a head. So .. dificult to hear the base tone. Sometimes i use those e-rings on head to damp overtones.
Snare is about g when low pitch and ais for high pitch.

Hey Maf & Henk,

                            Thought I'd drop in to see how the project is going, still can't play yet, had knee operation last week, so will probably be another week before I can play again. Gave me time and inspiration to tune my drums..............however I don't know if they are better or worse LOL....I hate tuning drums.

Cheers Johnno

Yea, it sounds alright.....I like the tighter sound of that(my mix) than Distorted Mind's mix....He added reverb to it.....I haven't heard the reverb-less mix in awhile...  Distorted Mind's mix has the guitar lead in it.   I think I'll try to keep more reverb out of it...    I think if you play with Distorted Mind's mix you'll probably play a little harder in the climatic parts......But what you did was great...intimate.....But I think it will build at the building points.....   Anyway ...great...Thank you...  Soon I'll get going on this and your metal jam(s) project.

Henkjan has uploaded a new Mix with the label Each Others Mine drums.
File Description:First try with drums. Not perfect  and .. i dont have the track with the guitar solo's in it.
You can hear how it sounds with a super big pop dumkit recorded acoustically with 2 high quality large membran condensator mics: back and front.
Shattered Image i used some of your ideas . Added also some own ideas. Perhaps i will do a next recording closer to your recordings.
If you change songstructure please put it on myonlineband.
Perhaps my input will help in developing the song further.
I enjoy it!

Yea, Johno  sounds like you're on the right track.....When I get time, I'll have to decide . But the structure will stay the same....or the Lyrics will revolve around the music..  I'm not sure which part of what I got will be repeated as in a Chorus.or ???   Maybe just the last few lines until EOM...anyway....it will come together quickly once we have the tracks....Thanks all..

Hi guys, just thought I'd chuck in some ideas for story line.

In the 1st verse He/She thought they'd never change. Maybe in the 2nd verse he is noticing her changing the way she does something, or he notices she does'nt do something anymore, maybe she is changing her ways to that of a potential new love.

or

He did'nt notice the changes until it was too late and she's leaving. (descibe the things he did'nt notice. eg: "you only wore skirts now you lives in her jeans"  "is rum and raisin out of fashion"; she's changed her taste in things, including men)

or

maybe she's moving on but he loves her so much he lets her go into anothers arms. (He'd rather see her happy with another than to stay and be miserable.

Just thought I'd ramble a bit, and maybe spark an idea for you.

Hey Guys !  Maf : I listened to it all last week, and I think there is too much to fix in this drum track, and I'm pretty confident I'll be able to do a better one than this. I'll keep most of the good bits the same, and I know what you mean coming into 2nd part. Was hoping to get a chance to record over weekend, but was'nt able to. Hopefully next Friday. Gives me a week more to practise in my head. Also thought I might add a rim click half way through the 2nd quiet bit. (I'll do it on a seperate track, so if we don't like it I can easily take it out.)

Henk-jan: Got your message, I think the main thing I need is good mics, will talk again soon.

Scattered image: you have nice website. You have lot of experience in several bands and ... you have nice studio. You will enjoy experimenting in that environment. Compliments.Thanks for the drumtrack. Paz has very little time now, he also has other projects and work and family,  but ... i asked him to assist. Hope he will be able to find some time.
